HTC One M8 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Guide: AT&T Release, Schedule, OTA and More Details

HTC One M8 models under AT&T begins receiving Android 5.0 Lollipop update today as announced yesterday by HTC's Mo Versi via Twitter. 

In his Twitter post, HTC's vice president of product management Mo Versi the update has received technical approval. His tweet reads: "AT&T HTC One (M8) Owners! We just received technical approval for Lollipop OS! Thank you for all your patience, OTA to start tomorrow."

Android 5.0 Lollipop update's automatic installation will be done over-the-air. Through AT&T, Google will notify users that the update is already available. Just tap the notification message and follow onscreen instructions. Make sure the handset is connected to a Wi-Fi network and the battery is charged up to 50 percent.

If not notified by the network, head over to Settings > About phone > Check for updates > Check now. Then follow onscreen instructions. Android 5.0 Lollipop will bring a slew of improvements to One M8, including a brand new ART runtime and Google's updated Material Design user interface for native applications.   • Material Design offers fluid animations, vivid colored themes and 3D views.
  • An improved lock screen brings shortcuts for both phone and camera are provided, along with Material Design-inspired notifications.
  • TouchWiz will have a brighter look and feel, plus bold colors.
  • Floating action buttons provide easy access to the app's most important features, such as adding a new contact or favorite, or composing a text message.
  • Interruptions is halted with priority notifications such as events and reminders, phone calls, and messages can be set up to sound or vibrate while all other notifications are muted.
  • Recents has easy access to Chrome tabs right from the Recent apps page. Multi-window icons for ease of use while multi-tasking.

AT&T's update is the latest following Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile and Sprint.
