American actress Calista Flockhart joins the upcoming "Supergirl" television series. She is cast as "Cat Grant" a female media mogul for which Kara Zor-El aka Kara Danvers will be working closely with.

The 50-year-old actress will co-star with Melissa Benoist of "Glee" fame. CBS has eyed Flockhart to be the highly attractive female boss who had climb her way up the social ladder and created Catco, a global power house company that she had built on her very own.

"Supergirl" will be an hour long tv adaptation of Superman's cousin, Kara, who also was born on Krypton and has escaped its ruin just like the Man of Steel did years ago. Like Clark Kent, she will also be adopted by a foster family who has advised her strongly to be discreet of her superhuman abilities. However, the 24-year-old alien decides to no longer hide her extraordinary powers. An unexpected disaster, forces Kara to unleash her repressed gifts in public. Also, making it as series regulars  are Laura Benanti of the "Gypsy" revival as Kara's birthright mother and former fashion model Mehcad Brooks as photographer Jimmy Olsen.

Flockhart is best known for playing the titular role in comedy-drama series Ally McBeal in the late 90s and an alum of "Brothers and Sisters" which spanned from 2006 to 2011 in ABC. During her six-year stint portraying the eccentric lawyer, Alley McBeal, she has won a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Peoples Choice Award.

She has largely stayed cleared from television networks since the wrap-up of ABC's Brothers & Sisters in 2011. Her return in the "Supergirl" pilot will not only mark her return in television acting but will also reunite her with former "Brothers and Sisters" executive producer Greg Berlanti. Berlanti is also known as the creator and writer of both The CW's "Green Arrow" and "The Flash".
