Andrew Garfield will not be returning in the movie and so will the Spider-man movie franchise. Sony recently announced that one of the most favorite Marvel characters will be returning to the Avengers team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the poor hits in the box office of "The Amazing Spider-man" and an even worse result by means of sales in "The Amazing Spider-man 2", the dreams of Marc Webb of doing a 3rd and 4th sequel ended up in ashes. Critics have been feasting on how the Spidey reboot defeated the purpose by just including the same story and investing heavily on Peter Parker's (Andrew Garfield) backstory in the first two films than the hero himself.

What's Next For Spider-man? New Director and New Casting

According to a report, Sony decided to start fresh and cast a younger Spider-man. The story will revolve around the young Peter dealing with normal high school struggles while balancing the life of being a hero. Other than casting a new lead, the production team is also looking at finding a new director for the solo movie franchise. Due to film giant's move to collaborate with Marvel, they're running out of time because the initial plan is to include the new Spider-man in the "Captain America : Civil War" which will arrive in theaters in 2016.

Who are the primary choices for the young Spider-man role? International Business Times reports that "Teen Wolf"'s Dylan O'Brien and "Perks of Being a Wallflower"'s Logan Lerman are some of the stars that Sony is considering for the role. With O'Brien's success in "The Maze Runner" movie franchise, he's one of the great choices for the job. Cunningly handsome and young, he might offer a fresher view of Spider-man's life. The other one that the team is eye-ing for the role is Logan Lerman. With his exquisite performance in "Fury", he might be perfect for this due to the similarities of traits of his character in the film and Spidey's situation.

Who do you think should be the new Spider-man? Tell us your thoughts below! Tune in for more information and updates about the film.

Spider-man's solo franchise is set to premiere in 2017.
