iPad 4 and iPad Air are two of Apple's best devices and have become a household name since Apple launched the iPad back in 2010. It has since then become very important for a consumer to pick a device that suits his needs and lifestyle.

The thing about apple is that it continues to outdo itself in every product it releases. iPad 4 is definitely one of its successful products until iPad Air had come into picture and dethroned it. Consumers have become confused if the latter is really so outdated that they should probably get an iPad Air. It may not be so. iPad 4 is still a very good product, and to help you decide which one to own or keep, the following are reviews of both of these products. Then you decide.

Judging by design, both of these tablets have aluminum casing. iPad Air projects  a thin bezel that is about half as thick as the iPad 4. iPad Air is thinner with (7.5mm vs 9.4mm), smaller (240x169mm vs 241x185mm) and lighter (469g vs 662g). Apple also declared that Air is 28 percent thinner and lighter as compared to the 4th generation of iPad. Obviously, iPad Air takes the lead in terms of design.

As for display, iPad Air and iPad 4 share the same features considering their screen size. They sport a 9.7 inch IPS LED backlit display screen with retina display. with a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536 pixels and a pixel display of 264 ppi, these tablets offer a superb viewing experience in any angle. Both the devices can boast of their strong but pleasing hues. However, both of them display poor visibility outdoors.

These two have good cameras. The 5MP iSight rear camera delivers a very good output provided that there is a good lighting. The secondary HD front-facing camera is 1.2 MP for quality Face Time calling. Both of these tablets don't have lash in the cameras. Thus, these two shoot and record photos and videos with the same quality.

The iPad 4 is powered by A6X chipset and a 1.4GHz dual-core processor and PowerVR SGX554MP4 GPU. It also houses 1GB RAM and internal storage options of 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB. It's iOS 7 makes it run really smooth enabling it to deliver high quality images. Now, a user can already upgrade it to iOS 8 with deeper and better features. On the other hand, iPad Air runs on an upgraded Apple A7 chipset with a dual-core 1.3GHz ARM v-8 based processor and a PowerVR G6430 GPU. It can now also be upgraded to iOS 8.
