"Star Wars: Battlefront", the upcoming video game currently being developed by EA Digital Illusions CE (DICE) for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and to be published by Electronic Arts (EA), is slated for a 2015 release.

In a report by Polygon, EA chief financial officer Blake J. Jorgensen estimated that the launch would be done in the summertime next year.  He said that the game will most likely come out around the time "Star Wars Episode VII" will hit theaters that year. According to a report by Entertainment Weekly, "Episode VII" will debut in theaters very much later, which is on December 18th.

EA is yet to give an official announcement as to the exact release date of "Battlefront". But should they stick to their previous statement that the game will come out concurrently with the new film, it is safe to assume that "Battlefront" will probably hit the shelves by the last quarter of 2015.

EA first announced the new game and showed a teaser video available on YouTube at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2013 (E3 2013). The game is built using DICE's Frostbite 3 engine, the same game engine used in the first-person shooter "Battlefield 4". In an interview with Eurogamer, EA Studios executive vice president Patrick Söderlund said that though they would still be including recognizable elements from the previous games, the game "is DICE's interpretation of what Battlefront should be."

Despite the time needed to wait by gamers for the release,  Starwars-Holonet.com reported that "Star Wars: Battlefront 3" developer and soundtrack musician Viktor Lundberg published a Twitter post in late August that the company would be "playtesting" the alpha and beta versions real soon. It read, "Looking forward to more Battlefront playtesting today and then get my face melted by @Fearedse probably excellent clinic :)"
