Top 10 Car Nicknames given by Young Drivers; Taylor Swift matched up with a Japanese car?

The Royal Automobile Club of Queensland (RACQ) has just released the latest top 10 car nicknames in 2014 according to the young drivers in North Queensland Australia. Surprisingly, this includes very creative names inspired by the very cars they own.

RACQ is a well trusted car insurance in Australia. The company has taken a qualitative research and interviews among thousands of car owners in North Queensland. Based on the survey, more than 50% among the youth respondents age 16 to 24 have been eager with giving special names for their cars. 

According to RACQ Spokesperson Lauren Ritchie, it is because of their love and fashion for their automobile that young drivers are relating their cars with women and famous characters. They are likely associating it to their emotional attachment, personalization and fun. Here is the result of the top 10 car nicknames in 2014:

1. The Beast - This nickname makes it to the top 10 car nicknames spot because of Obama's legendary christened limousine especially created for the highest leader of the United States of America. This is a highly armored vehicle with night vision cameras, special weapons and other gadgets to protect the president.

2. Betty or Betsy - This name is popular in the US and Australia, according to another survey conducted by Hankook Tire in 2014. The name is adopted by most drivers because of its deep meaning that God is the owner of the car, it moves in mysterious ways.   

3. Suzie - Taken from the famous Grand Prix Racer Susie Wolf, she is the only woman to drive an F1 car at the Grand Prix (Johnson, 2014). Suzie is also a popular cartoon character created by Walt Disney in the 1950's.

4. Bubble or Bubbles - It is also a funny car designed in Europe during the 1950's because of its size and egg shaped features.

5. Baby or My baby - Universally, people give this name to their loved ones for their engagement, emotional attachment and precious appreciation for their car, just like their real baby. 

6. Penny or Penelope - Taken from the Thunderbird Fab1 Lady Penelope is a fictional character who owned several Rolls Royce and her popularity grows to be adopted for fun and fame is given mostly as a pet name or nickname.   

7. Taylor Swift - Without a doubt Taylor Swift's makes it to the top 10 car nicknames because of her worldwide popularity as an award winning singer, her name perfectly fitted to Suzuki Swift Car.  

8. Fifi - Taken from the popular Mad Max Movie, Fifi is a popular Australian Police Patrol use to combat crime. It is basically the only car that makes it to the top 10 car nicknames that has a theme for adventure.

9. Lancelot or Lance - Taken from Mitsubishi Lancer this name scored high among the youth. Lancelot in Australia is also becoming a central hub for luxury car rental.     

10. Elle, Ella or Ellie - The popularity of this nickname has many versions. Elle car just like the bubble car has an elegant and fun shape feature. Another popular character, Elle Driver from the movie "Kill Bill" popularized this car nickname even more because of the spectacular action packed story of the movie.  

Now that you have already known the top 10 car nicknames, it is up to you to choose your favorite. According to Ms. Ritchie of RACQ, she made a challenge that if you really love your car to give it a name, then you should also show your appreciation and care by cleaning and fueling it regularly.
