When initial photos of a group of people including "Neighbors" star Zac Efron and "Fast & Furious" franchise actress Michelle Rodriguez have been shared on social media, there was no inkling of a doubt that the two were friends. But photos courtesy of paparazzi taken during the same Italian getaway painted a different story, with Efron seen kissing the much-older actress, to the dismay of his many fans who had long followed his career since his breakout film "High School Musical."

However, a Star magazine report is now claiming that Efron might not have been that smitten with Rodriguez after all. The magazine said that the new couple's public display of affection has been largely for show, at least on Efron's part, as he is reportedly playing Rodriguez for her money.

A source told the magazine. "Zac has been pretty broke while waiting on his share of the profits from Neighbors to come through. Michelle, on the other hand, hoards her money, Rodriguez has no qualms about shelling out the cash, and her friends are worried that she's being played."

The magazine also went as far as reporting that the former Disney darling had spent all of his hard-earned money to fund his lavish lifestyle. His coupling with Rodriguez is allegedly his way to have someone pick up the tab, especially during the couple's trip to Italy with friends. It is to note that aside from lounging in luxury yachts, their group has been spotted hanging out in VIP sections of parties in the country and even went on a horseback riding adventure on the beach.

The insider continued and said, "Michelle thinks Zac will pay her back as soon as his next paycheck comes in, but everyone is convinced that he'll drop her before then. He's just living the luxurious life with her while he can."

Gossip Cop, who has long carved a nich in debunking Hollywood rumors, has retained that that the story is false. It also noted that Rodriguez had fallen victim to the magazine's attempt to establish ann earlier story about Efron being broke. Moreover a source told the website that the latest rumor itself is ridiculous.
