Staffordshire has netted a £4 million grant from the government to generate more jobs and help expand small and medium sized businesses (SMBs). The funding came from the Regional Growth Fund (RGF), according to BBC News.

The target recipients of the grant are the areas in England that have been dependent on the public industries, the report added.

As of now, the North Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce is accepting bids from companies who want to receive funding for their projects. In August, the organization started its Jobs and Growth Funds Programme using a separate £4-million grant from the RGF. At present, the chamber has already greenlighted a total funding amounting to £2.7 million for 21 initiatives in the Staffordshire, the report detailed.

According to the Chamber of Commerce, the latest grant would help sustain projects of local SMBs until February 2017. Connect Insurance is one of the companies that have already received funding from the grant, BBC News reported.
