Giraffe Friend has raised $14,000 (CNY87,527) on crowdfunding platform DemoHour for a wearable device that corrects bad posture. The maker of the device aims to help prevent backaches and pains related to incorrect sitting posture, according to VentureBeat.

The 2.6cm device can be clipped on a user's collar or lapel. The device collects and analyzes data based on the user's habits and the information is then sent to an iOS app. A motion sensor triggers a vibration whenever the user slouches or hunches over, as a reminder to sit up straight. Fixed timings for these reminders can also be pre-set, the report detailed.

The posture-correcting device can be charged for 20 minutes for a 100-hour continuous use. As of now, backers can pledge CNY159 to get the device in their chosen color. The gadget is available in seven colors, the report added.

Giraffe Friends was invented by Xiang Renkai, a senior student from Peking University, VentureBeat reported.
