Irish hotel booking startup Hot Hotels bags $1M for international expansion

Same-day hotel booking service Hot Hotels has raised $1 million (€730,000) in funding from Axon Partners and other private investors. The Irish startup will use the fresh capital for its expansion into Europe and South America, according to Irish Independent.

Chief executive officer (CEO) Conor O'Connor said of the deal: "With this investment by Axon, we now have the firepower to establish clear water between ourselves and our competitors in Europe. Axon provides a base to accelerate our roll-out in fast- growing Latin America."

The last-minute booking service is also wants to beef up its mobile client base in Europe. As of now, the startup caters to 257 cities across 43 countries in Europe, Africa, Latin America, Israel, and Asia, the report detailed.

Formed by O'Connor, Adelaida Muriel, Jose Fernandez, and Joe Haslam in January 2012, Hot Hotels lets people book hotels via mobile on the same day with a discount of up to 50%. The startup now has access to 4,000 hotels in its service, Irish Independent reported.
