Neil Young has raised almost $2 million in a crowdfunding campaign for his high-resolution music player called Pono. The crowdfunding campaign has surpassed its $800,000 target in just one day, according to CNBC.

The Canadian music legend said the device "plays back exactly what the artist gave you. Whatever the artist created in the studio is exactly what you hear."

The Pono Player lets users hear six times more music details than the ordinary MP3 file. The device enables music lovers to listen to music that is as close to what the original recorded file is. The Pono music app also provides an access to the Pono music store where they can browse, buy, and download music or copy it to the high-resolution music player, Music Week explained.

Those who pledge $5,000 for Pono will be treated to a VIP dinner with Neil Young, Music Week added.

So far, more than 7,000 individuals have pledged money for the project. Pono's Kickstarter campaign ends in 33 days, CNBC reported.
