Mobile gaming firm Fishlabs has been purchased by publisher Koch Media. The firm's co-founders, Michael Schade and Christian Lohr, are to step down from their positions, according to VG 24/7.

Fishlabs co-founder Schade had confirmed the acquisition earlier, but was hesitant in divulging the identity of the buyer. Later on, Koch Media announced that it had purchased the company. After the said deal, Fishlabs as a brand will be scrapped. All of the developer's assets will be handed over to Koch Media. Upon completion of the deal, the assets will then become part of Koch Media's office in Hamburg, the report explained.

Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, Managing Director of Koch Media, said, "The mobile gaming market is strategically important to Koch Media. These days, games are played anytime and anywhere - both at home and on the go. The know-how and brands which Fishlabs brings along give us the expertise required in order to establish ourselves in this exciting field for the long term."

According to a report by PocketGamer, all of Fishlabs' 52 employees are to be retained in the acquisition. The firm's co-founders are the only redundancies, VG 24/7 reported.
