American retailer Children's Place may partner with Arvind for an India entry next year. Children's Place is the largest retailer of children's apparel in the United States. A report by the Times of India said that the discussions between Children's Place and Arvind are fairly advanced. The retail chain looks to expand outside its core North American markets.

Both companies would soon decide whether the partnership will involve an equity joint venture or a licensing and distribution deal, sources told Times of India.

The report said that Arvind Brands has been adding international fashion names to its portfolio, including Debenhams, Nautica and Next. It is close to announcing a joint venture with Japanese retail major Uniqlo early next year and has held exploratory talks with US mega apparel retailer Gap.

Times of India said that NASDAQ-listed Children's Place has over 1,100 stores globally. The USD2 billion retail chain will compete against domestic players in India, including Gini & Jony, Catmoss and Lilliput. It will also take on Benetton Kids, Tommy Hilfiger Kids, Zara Kids and Mothercare in India.
