Peer-to-peer task outsourcing platform Airtasker closed USD2 million in a recent funding round. BridgeLane Capital, Exto Partners, and other private equity investors participated in the round. To date, the company has raised a total of USD3.5 million. This was according to a report published by StartupSmart.

According to Tim Fung, co-founder and chief executive of Airtasker, the funds will be used for its team expansion. This will back the company's aggressive growth strategy in the booming industry of outsourcing. Fung told StartupSmart that the company is planning to double its team of five people, the report said.

Airtasker was launched in 2012. It is a site where community members can post, accept tasks, and negotiate payments. The company takes 15% of every task's final price, the report explained.

Fung said Airtasker is close to expanding internationally. However, the company will most likely shift away from the US east coast. Fung said the firm will target Asian cities first, StartupSmart reported.
