Chinese online game developer Changyou.com Ltd. on Wednesday said that it will acquire a majority stake in group communication software provider Raidcall.

In a statement, Changyou.com announced that it will buy 62.5% of Kalends Inc.'s equity interest in Raidcall for USD50 million in cash. The deal is expected to close in December.

Kalends is a global provider of Internet products and services. It has three core businesses, which include the development and operation of Raidcall.

According to Changyou president Dewen Chen, the Raidcall deal will enable the company to offer gamers a more comprehensive selection of products. It will also help the company move forward in its plan to develop a platform business and hire a team of top engineers.

Raidcall is a free social communication software that facilitates real-time online group activities via voice, text and video. The software is available in 14 languages. Raidcall serves over 20 million users located in various countries including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Brazil and Russia, the statement said.
