Marketing technology company BrightTag recently obtained a USD27 million funding from Japanese internet company Yahoo! Japan. BrightTag also inked a long-term partnership with the Tokyo-based company.

Yahoo! is BrightTag's exclusive reseller in Japan. Yahoo! Japan is a joint venture between American internet company Yahoo! and Japanese internet company SoftBank. It has JPY 471,745 million assets under management, according to its company profile.

The Chicago Tribune, citing a statement made by Mayor Rahm Emanuel's office, said the USD27 million investment marked BrightTag's largest funding round to date.

The leading tag management provider previously received USD3 million and USD5 million in its Series A and Venture round funding respectively. It nabbed USD15 million in its third funding round last year, based on a profile by CrunchBase.

The USD27 million investment brought BrightTag's funding total to USD50 million.

The company currently employs over 80 people, said BrightTag Chief Executive Mike Sands. Yahoo! Japan's financing will enable BrightTag to add over 100 jobs locally, said Emanuel in a statement addressed to the Chicago Tribune.
