Oman projects total USD112 billion

According to new figures released, a total amount worth USD112 billion in major projects are either being planned or currently being done in Oman. In the report done by MEED Projects have found about forty major projects are in the pipeline to be started in the Omani Sultanate.

The report further stated that 25% of the funding would be for major projects in the construction industry. Foremost among the plans was the construction of a new town to be located in Duqm. Another amount in capital investments is being planned for the transportaton sector, including a USD15 billion national rail programme. The oil and gas sector would have projects worth USD40 billion, currently being done or would start in the near future. 

The figures were collated for presentation at the MEED Oman Projects Forum 2013. The said symposium opens at the Grand Hyatt Muscat on October 28. The data showed around USD40 billion worth of projects under execution. The largest portion if the Omani projects programme would be around USD50 billion still in the design or feasibility stage.
