In a Twitter post, billionaire activist investor Carl Icahn expressed his thanks to Hollywood star Kevin Spacey and head executives of Netflix Inc. Icahn recently sold a portion of his 9.4% stake in the video streaming company and had subsequently earned up to USD800 million in profits.

"I want to thank Reed Hastings, Ted Sarandos and the rest of the Netflix team for a job well done. And last but not least, I wish to thank Kevin Spacey," Icahn said in his tweet.

Icahn's gratitude to Spacey was perhaps due to the star's successful and award-nominated Web series "House of Cards." The Web series is a political drama about a Democrat who plans to get back on those who had contributed to his failed US Secretary of State appointment. It earned various category nominations from the Primetime Emmy Awards.

Icahn was not the only investor who was grateful to Spacey and Netflix. Shares of the video streaming company went up 282% this year alone, said a Reuters report. The company's stock was declared best performer on the S&P 500 index. Netflix currently has a market capitalization of USD21 billion.
