CORRECTION: Changed facts in title and in article body.

According to a VentureBeat report, Berlin-based Labfolder obtained a six-figure funding in a follow-on funding round. The startup had received its first funding from the EXIST founder scholarship. The amount was not made known or disclosed. EXIST-Founder scholarship had been established by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, and is co-financed by the European Social Fund.

Labfolder was formed by scientists Simon Bungers, Florian Hauer and Mathias Schäffner. The trio had been developing a digital lab book for researchers and scientists in their preparation and documentation of their experiments. The product is similar to the more popular notetaking and archiving suite Evernote. The new funding would go toward hiring more people for its team as it is preparing to launch the product before the end of the year. 600 people had been using the beta version of the product.

Labfolder obtained funding from Vogel Ventures, angel investor Jan Bohl, and IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft from Investionsbank Berlin. Bohl had also invested in music streaming and community platform startup Soundcloud and music subscription service Simfy.
