Last minute buyers, like Doug Koehler, bought vintage cars at an auction in Norfolk, Nebraska. According to a report in news website Omaha.com, Koehler bought a 1966 Chevrolet Impala for USD 15,500. Retired Chevrolet dealer Ray Lambrecht auctioned his rare collection in a weekend sale attended by an estimated 15,000 people.

Other cars in the auction included a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air Sedan, a 1964 Chevrolet Impala and the 1963 Chevrolet Impala. Buyers paid a premium for the vintage cars, most of which had only been parked in sheds or fields for decades. Proceeds of the sale were not disclosed by VanDerBrink Auctions.

According to The Car Connection website, Chevrolet could sell more than 5 million vehicles around the world this year. In 2012, Detroit News reported that Chevrolet sold 4.95 million cars. As of July this year, however, US car sales have increased by 7% year-over-year compared to the same period last year. Monthly sales have also increased by 17.1% over 2012 figures.
