Americans remember the Twin Towers and the 9/11 attack

The World Trade Center, or known by its iconic name Twin Towers in Lower Manhattan, New York had been the latest trending topic today. This was after the United States and the whole world commemorated the horrifying event that got the New York City skyline dramatically changed after the Twin Towers collapsed. The whole world witnessed how the Twin Towers fell due to terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and had caused deaths to many Americans.

The iconic building was completed in 1975 after years of construction. Twin Towers then became Battery Park City after the foreground land was filled. The iconic buildings opened its doors to the public on April 4, 1974. Architect Minoru Yamasaki designed the 110-storey towers which had later become the tallest buildings in the world.

An estimated USD3 billion was seen as the initial cost for the reconstruction of the building in 2007. However, the cost for the reconstruction of the building had reached USD3.9 billion. This made the iconic landmark the most expensive single building at the time. The state of New York had funded the reconstruction of the landmark with USD250 million from its Treasury, and additional USD1 billion through the sale of bonds.
