The Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) would be investing MYR300 million in capital to construct a campus in Malaysia. The decision to build another campus followed after the success of MDIS's model university in Uzbekistan. The proposed campus in Malaysia would admit up to 10,000 students.  It was reported that the new campus would be five times larger than its home campus at Stirling Road, Singapore.

MDIS Secretary Dr R. Theyvendren said, "This campus will be the largest overseas investment made by MDIS to date. We are confident that we will be able to offer MDIS brand of education here in Iskandar with the success that it deserves. MDIS Malaysia Campus represents a significant addition to MDIS leadership and talent development initiative across the Southeast Asian region."

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Malaysian campus at Educity, Nusajaya on Thursday was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. The MDIS campus in Malaysia was expected to officially open in 2015, but MDIS would be accepting student this month.
