Haider To Strengthen Disciplinary Measures Among All Government Sectors

Azad Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider has directed authorities to ensure financial discipline in all government departments and restrain from unnecessary expenses to save the national resources.

Presiding over a meeting of Local Government and Rural Development Department in Muzaffarabad on Thursday, he directed to adopt austerity measures to avoid any unnecessary expenditure.

Raja Farooq Haider Khan said that transparency and good governance would be ensured in District Corporation, Municipal Corporation and Town Committees.

He said that biometric system would be adopted to ensure the timely attendance of employees in government run institutions.

AJK Prime Minister assured that all genuine problems of Local Government and Rural Development Department would be addressed on priority.

While addressing the meeting of Local Government Board here on Thursday the prime minister said that provision of good governance in Kashmir would be ensured. He said that our government shall turn into a modern welfare state. He said that establishing good governance in base camp of freedom movement was a top priority and would be developed accordance with the vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

"Pakistan People's Party (PPP) in its five years tenure destroyed all State institutions and state identity was compromised again and again," he said. He said that we will eliminate culture of exploitation in and people will feel a pleasant change very soon.

The prime minister said that by activating Department of Local Governmen, participation of people would be ensured."It is need of the hour to stabilise local government system at Union Council level," he said.

Chief Secretary Skandir Sultun Raja, Secretary Finance Muhammad Sadique, Secretary Local Government Dr Mahmoodul Hasan and others officials also attended the meeting.

Likewise, addressing a high-level committee in Muzaffarabad, the PM said that investment by entrepreneurs in tourism, agriculture and livestock sectors in the region will be encouraged.

For this purpose, Haider said that the AJK government would offer tax benefits to entrepreneurs to generate economic activity in the region and create job opportunities for the locals.

He added that the government would introduce reforms in the education system to promote merit, instead of nepotism. Further, clan and tribal affinities for appointments to government posts would be discouraged.

The meeting condemned Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir and called upon the international community to take notice of India's state terrorism in occupied Kashmir.
