The Duchess of Cambridge finally gave birth to a son, the prince of Cambridge, who was third in line to the throne. However, pregnancy and birth were only the beginning. Now, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge needed to raise up their little prince to fulfill his role in the kingdom.

Over the next 20 years until the prince's maturity, the royal couple will spend an average of US$46,000 for food and clothing. The couple will spend an average of US$54,000 per year for the services of a nanny, which they most probably will need. Combine that with expenses to send the prince to nursery, preparatory, and Eton College and you'll get around US$650,000. Of course, the prince will need security, especially when the royal family goes to visit in Berkshire in Bucklebury. Security costs would add heavily to their expenses, too.

To pay for these expenses, the Duke, William, received about US$65,000 income from his mother's estate. His salary and support from the Prince of Wales will add to this as well, whereas the remainder will be funded by the citizens of the kingdom through the "Sovereign Grant" which they pay annually.
