A thrill ride in one of Ohio's amusement parks malfunctioned on Friday, injuring seven people after rolling backward down a steep hill. The boat then flipped over in the water below the ride.

According to the Shoot the Rapids water ride officials, operators immediately stopped the ride after seeing the car's malfunction. Police, medical technicians, visitors, and ride operators rushed into the water to help the unlucky passengers .

"If we didn't help, I don't even know what would have happened," commented bystander Matthew Orr. "We jumped in and helped them get out."

Cedar Point officials said that six of those injured were released after evaluation by medical personnel, while the other one was taken to the hospital for further testing.

Despite accidents being highlighted in the news, the industry is looking strong. The theme park industry is one of the fastest industries to recover from the recession. Ticket sales prompted low revenue back in 2009, but recent reports said that the theme park industry has fully recovered.

Analysts are looking at the figures in the industry after reports of this accident, and an incident involving a woman's falling from a roller coaster.
