Company Hire: Schwark Satyavolu Joins Trinity Ventures as General Partner for Fintech

Silicon Valley firm Trinity Ventures announced that serial entrepreneur Schwark Satyavolu will join the firm as general partner. Mr. Satyavolu, most recently an Executive Vice President of Product and Technology for LifeLock, will begin its new role in the firm next month.

Upon joining Trinity Ventures, Mr. Satyavolu will be in charge of the firm's performance and strategy in financial tech and services, consumer apps and marketplaces, as noted by the Wall Street Journal. In addition to being a serial entrepreneur and angel investor, Mr. Satyavolu has been asked to be an advisor for startups for more than a decade. 

TrinityVentures elaborated Mr. Satyavolu's impressive experience. Before taking the role as Executive Vice President at LifeLock, he was an Executive or MasterCard, responsible for all the rewards and offers initiatives. Prior to that, he was a CEO to the Trinity portfolio company. As an entrepreneur, he co-founded Truaxis, a card loyalty platform. He also co-founded Yodlee, a platform that underlies financial technology applications that rely on data or verification of financial institutions. He is also an investor on 15 U.S. patents, while frequently sought to advise startups. 

His involvement in the Trinity companies actually began at 2007 when he was appointed as Trinity portfolio CEO as well as independent board member and advisor to Trinity companies. Mr. Satyavolu stated his impression on the team at Trinity. "I appreciate their commitment to entrepreneurs, their willingness to go out on a limb, and their dedication to building great relationships; I'm a testament to that," he said.

Trinity Ventures had just received its 12th fund in November 2015. It's reported that Mr. Satyavolu will be involved in the investment round made with the $400 million fund. Trinity Ventures General Partner Ajay Chopra said that the firm will keep its investment focus by stage at about 70 percent to Series A rounds, 20 percent to Series B rounds, and the rest to everything else, including seed deals.

Chopra also expressed how he is delighted to have Mr. Satyavolu joining the firm as a general partner. "Schwark was already invaluable to us. I have called him dozens of times to get his advice," Chopra said. "Not only does he understand what it's like to be an entrepreneur and build substantial consumer businesses, he has experience operating in a company that scaled all the way to IPO. We value his extensive experience, and look forward to the expansion of thinking, new sector expertise and relationships he will bring to our practice," he noted, as quoted by MarketWired.

Schwark Satyavolu is indeed a valuable member of Trinity Ventures with his vast experience and achievements. Mr. Satyavolu is also delighted to be a part of the team as a general partner, and being in charge of mainly fintech, a subject matter that he cares about.
