Nissan Motor Co. has unveiled all-new 2017 Armada full-size sport utility vehicle on Wednesday in Windy City. The introduction takes place just ahead of the Chicago Auto Show, 2016 scheduled to take place from February 11 to 23.

The Armada's platform has been derived from the platform, Nissan uses for the Infiniti QX80 SUV as well as the Nissan Patrol, a hefty SUV that Nissan sells globally but not in the U.S. The patrol has been used by the United Nations peacekeeping forces, reports Detroit Free Press.

The Armada makes its linage with a big, chromed-out Nissan grille. A new 5.6-liter V8 engine bolted to the fully boxed ladder frame appears behind the grille, according to a report published in Mashable.

The second generation flagship SUV completes Nissan's transformation of its SUV and crossover lineup that started three years ago. The new Armada is instantly recognizable as a Nissan through the wide V-motion grille and distinctive boomerang-style LED daytime running lights, reports The Detroit News quoting Michael Bunce, Vice President of Product Planning for Nissan North America.

The SUV will be available with three trim levels in both two-wheel and four-wheel drive- SV, SL and Platinum. However, pricing and fuel efficiency information are not available yet.

The new flagship V-8 also features an increase in horsepower to 390 from the previous 317 horsepower. It also represents an increased torque to 401 pound-feet (at 4,000 rpm) from 385 pound-feet.

Armada Platinum model adds several safety and entertainment features including a standard DVD family entertainment system with dual 7-inch head restraint monitors. USB ports (two), VTR jacks (two), two wireless headphones and remote controller also add to the entertainment gadgets.

The Japanese auto giant brags the interior has "library levels" of quietness. The 8-inch navigation screen and 13 speakers appear standard while heated front seats and dual zone climate control put a luxurious tag over SUV.

Nissan discloses to assemble the Armada in Kyushu, Japan while the engine to be built in Decherd, Tennessee. The Armada debut will highlight the 2016 Chicago Auto Show, which is believed to be packed of new and updated pickups, crossovers and SUVs.

Other expected debuts include all-new Kia Niro hybrid utility vehicle. Furthermore, updated pickups, crossovers and SUVs from Chevrolet, Ford, Hyundai, Ram Truck and Toyota, will also enlighten the show.
