Well known YouTuber John Bain who is best known as TotalBiscuit quits social media. As the YouTube star is suffering from terminal cancer, he is unable to take criticisms and decided to stay away from service like Twitter and Reddit.

Bain who first revealed his struggle with cancer in the year 2014, said that he is fed up with the drama and he is likely to live longer by simply avoiding social media. According to Forbes, Bain stated reasons for leaving social media and first being that he only has so long to live, and he doesn't want to spend that time obsessing over criticism of himself on Twitter and Reddit.

TotalBiscuit said in a recording that, "I can't take criticism. I'm dying of terminal cancer. I don't think I need to read your Internet criticism of me. I think I'll live longer if I don't. And you know what? That should be the priority. I don't want to leave my wife and son behind. I don't want to do it. I don't want to leave my friends and job behind."

Kotaku reported that, Bain expressed anxiety over how his work was discussed and criticized in places like reddit. He also mentioned that his Twitter account is in the hands of his assistant Chris and that he is under explicit instructions not to let post anything on it. He has been told to put up videos, make announcements and remind the followers of upcoming events.

Bain said in his statement that, "I want no way - no way at all - to contact the wider internet outside of my work. I don't want to do it anymore. It's too much. There will be YouTube videos and there will be streams. If I could, I would probably shut down the chat in my stream as well." He also adds that, "I would delete my Twitter right now if I could. But, I legally can't as I have to maintain this Twitter for my YouTube channel and for my sponsorship agreements. So the only thing I can do is make sure that I can never post on it."

The YouTuber has over two million subscribers and over 494,000 Twitter followers. International Business Times reported that, Bain stating to his cancer in April 2014 revealed that a precancerous mass had been discovered in his colon. This later developed to have grown into cancer. He began chemotherapy and radiation treatments after which the follow-up appointments revealed that the cancer had spread to his liver.

Total Biscuit is doing what he wants to do under his complete freedom. His reasons are his own and are perfectly justified and understandable. But besides, the work that matters is still being done. However, his fans are quite sad to see him go through this struggle.
