After the success of "Cars" franchise movie, another one is geared for release in June 2017. "Cars 3" is set to be released in 2017 with other Disney movies. Disney and Pixar are hoping for another major hit following the success of the previous installments.

The Variety said that Disney's CEO Bob Iger announced the pre-production on "Cars 3" is happening. The statement was said during the company's shareholders meeting in Portland, Oregon last year with few other details about other Disney movies to be released.

Before the announcement of the CEO, voice actor Michael Willis was reported to confirm the third installment of the said franchise movie. According to Route 66 News, the voice actor revealed it in a radio interview last August 17, 2013. He said that "Cars 3" indeed is going to happen.

In his interview in WGBZ radio, he outright said the information about the movie and not just hinting. He also said that it will include Route 66, where the first film took place and will add Route 99, which is a very important road in California historically speaking.

The original Cars movie was released in summer of 2006 and it accumulated $460 million. Its sequel, Cars 2, has cemented its achievement in 2011 with over $560 million. Disney and Pixar are hoping it will do even better than the first two movies.

At first, it was announced that the third movie will be released in 2018. It was moved a year earlier to give way for other Disney movies that are lined up said The Wrap.

"Cars" revolves around the adventures of Lightning McQueen, a race car who got into Radiator Springs while heading to his own race.

Viewers were very delighted to know that there will be a third installment in this action packed animated movie about cars. The fans love the idea of it and are very excited about this. Stay tune for more updates on 'Cars 3'.
