"Are you considering changing your Android device to Windows Phone?" That's the first question Android users who get AppComparison - Microsoft's recently launched app on Google Play.

Independent reports that the release of the app is an attempt by Microsoft to start convincing some Android users to switch, following numerous attempts by the Redmond-based tech company to lure iOS users.

The app operates by scanning a phone and determining which apps in the handset that can be run on Windows Mobile. The purpose of the function is to debunk the common myth held by iOS and Android users that Windows doesn't have enough apps to match that of Google's and Apple's version of the mobile operating system.

Windows 10 Mobile is, by far, still undeniably behind in terms of number of apps offered, says Trusted Reviews. However, AppComparison takes those apps that they don't have and recommends other existing apps they might have that function the same way.

For instance, For Google Maps, AppComparison urges Android users to try Here Maps; for Google Drive, AppComparison pushes OneDrive. These are but two examples of the many comparisons the app will make. For other common apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and so on, AppComparison will simply tell the user that Windows 10 Mobile has the same thing available.

Windows 10 Mobile's efforts to gain market share have left a bad taste in the mouths of many spectators for a while now. As the AppComparison does justice to entice Android users to try it out, says Indian Express, it can potentially show as well the large deficit in terms of available apps that plagues Windows 10 Mobile.

In other news, Windows 10 Mobile continues to make some more adjustments and fixes to its slightly flawed builds. Recently, OneDrive and Camera apps for Windows 10 Mobile have seen some fixes and updates, but no change logs have been published. OneDrive has gone up from 17.4.1 to 17.5.1 and the Camera app has gone up from 1088.11 to 1088.21.
