InterOil Corporation announced today that Dr. Michael Hession will be its new Chief Executive Officer. The appointment was effective July 11, 2012.

Regarding the new CEO, Dr. Gaylen Byker, InterOil's Chairman and Interim CEO said, "We are delighted to have Michael join the InterOil team. He brings a wealth of experience across multiple regions in both exploration and project development. Michael has strong commercial ties in the industry and has shown great skill in liaising with partners and governments on complex projects. We look forward to his contributions to InterOil and to the people and economy of Papua New Guinea."

Dr. Hession was recently the Senior Vice President of Browse LNG Development. The company was a division of Woodside Energy Ltd. As Senior Vice President, Dr. Hession was responsible for developing the firm's biggest hydrocarbon resource. He stayed at Woodside for 12 years, taking several high-profile roles in the Pluto LNG Mega-Project.
