Android 6.0, the newest operating system update by Google, is expected to roll out on some LG handsets in U.S. The LG G4, G3 and G2 are a few of the lucky devices that are entitled to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade soon.

Acccording to Gospel Herald, the LG G2, LG G3, LG G4, and LG G Flex 2 under T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, and AT&T networks will begin receiving the Android Marshmallow update soon. The LG G4 is expected to be the first non-Nexus smartphone that is line-up to receive the update. But there seem to have problems that have surfaced, temporarily interrupting the planned schedule. However, some of the users of the handsets in Europe are already starting to receive the OS update.

Currently, newer smartphones are prioritized to have the update first. Then, the Android M will be rolled out next across North America and Asia gradually. The LG G4 mobile OS update is predicted to be completed by February 2016 and the LG G2, G3, and G Flex 2 are said to be the next recipients of the update. With these reports, Gospel Herald stated that the LG G4, G3 and G2 would probably be skipping the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update and will directly jump to Android M.

Furthermore, Yibada added that the upgrade will be released as an over-the-air (OTA) update, meaning different handsets will get it at different times. The users of the devices will receive a notification as and when their device will be eligible to receive this update. Meanwhile, they can also check it manually by going to Settings -> About Device -> Software Updates -> check for Update.

Meanwhile, Android Marshmallow is expected to bring a lot of enhancements in the material design and in the content of the device. These include improvement in the battery consumption, reduction in touch lag, and the fix for device overheating. Addition of many new icons and animations were also expected. In addition, Android 6.0 is also expected to combat the Stagefright software bugs.

Though users of LG G4 handsets seem to be the first one to experience and enjoy the newest Android 6.0 Marshmallow, users of LG G3 and G2 don't have to worry as the update will eventually reach their devices. In the meantime, users will have to wait for further announcements about the new OS release.
