Samsung Galaxy Note 4 on Verizon Wireless is expected heading to the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software update this month as other versions across the globe continue getting it. The update will bring in new features, more notification controls and security patches.

Verizon has been bombarded with complaints lately for overdue updates on Galaxy Note 4 and is expected rolling out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update in November. Sprint remains to be the sole mobile carrier in the US to have released the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to galaxy Note 4 while Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and US Cellular are expected to follow suit.

The update will be available over the air through Wi-Fi connection along with a bunch of improvements brought by the final Android Lollipop version. If prompted for the download, make sure the battery is charged up to at least 50 percent before heading to the installation. Storage should have an extra memory space depending on the download's file size. The update shall come in stages.

The update can also be checked through Settings > About device > Software update > Check for updates.

Galaxy Note 4 units on Verizon have build number SM-N910V, all of which are still running on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

Verizon's units were last update with android security patches in September. Meanwhile, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop brings in improvements in user interface (UI), device sharing, notifications and syncing, among others.

The Material Design UI becomes more colorful with fresh new look. Lollipop brings in more fluid animations along with improved apps and personalization options like colors, widgets and themes. Notification controls now allow adjusting settings to sift people and notifications. Right on the lock screen, users will have the privilege to respond to notifications, messages, emails, etc. when flagged important.

Device sharing is made safer with the help of guest user mode. User can create more than one account to which family and friends can use to access phone to avoid intrusion of privacy or unwanted theft. Users can also secure phone with another device using the Android Smart Lock.

Apps, music, settings, photos, videos, recent searches and other files can be accessed across all other Android devices from one Android device.
