Android 6.0 Marshmallow will expand battery life with the help of Doze. Doze is a new automatic app control method which primary function is to extend battery life. This new feature will place apps not in use or running in the background into deep sleep.

The app operated by sensing movements. For example, the device is left lying on a flat desk and stayed there untouched for a little while, Doze will automatically put the device into deep sleep. However, it is not certain if Galaxy ALPHA will be allowed to wake the device up and cull notifications as this function is part of the new feature.

Meanwhile, "app standby" will also help extend battery life by controlling the times an app is being used regularly. These apps include those needing the Internet to function.

Some apps are allowed to wake the device up and collect notifications, others aren't. Most notifications come through, but at a slower, less immediate rate.

Other Galaxy phones included in the list are Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy S5, among others.
