NVIDIA is expected to release Shield Tablet 2 that will solve the first Shield Tablet's overheating battery problems. The NVIDIA Shield Tablet 2 has already received South Korean certification but the device's release date is not yet available.

Crossmap reported that the NVIDIA Shield Tablet 2 will comparatively be better than its predecessor, the NVIDIA Shield Tablet which was launched in the previous year. With a revamped processor and battery, the NVIDIA Shield Tablet 2 is expected to resolve the battery issues with Shield Tablet.

The first NVIDIA Shield Tablets were reportedly recalled by the company because of overheating issues. NVIDIA deemed that the tablets were a fire hazard and took the proper action of reclaiming tablets purchased from July 2014 to July 2015.

This casts doubt on the release of NVIDIA Shield Tablet 2. According to Vine Report, the Shield Tablet 2 has already received South Korean certification equal to that of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) but no release date has been decided yet.

Christian Today gave details on the NVIDIA Shield Tablet 2's rumored specifications and features. The Shield Tablet 2 will reportedly have a full HD 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, an 8-inch screen perfect for gaming, and 4K video playback support. The tablet can be connected to bigger screens or TVs for larger viewing.

Under the hood, the Shield Tablet 2 will house the latest quad-core Tegra X1 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz and 2GB RAM. These specs will give better performance and quality graphics to the device. Additionally, the tablet will have an improved battery that is capable of lasting up to 10 hours of web browsing and video streaming.

The Shield Tablet 2 is expected to have a micro-USB, mini-HDMI, and microSD ports for connectivity. It will reportedly have an internal thermal shield that will prevent overheating and a slip-resistant surface at the back for additional protection.

Other features of the Shield Tablet 2 include front stereo speakers and two 5MP cameras at the front and back of the device. It is also rumored that the device will run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.

The NVIDIA Shield Tablet 2 will reportedly have a price of US $299 for the variant with WiFi support. NVIDIA's tablets are famous for their high-quality gaming capabilities.
