Comcast, a major telecommunications provider, has recently blacked out 15 regional sports networks operated by Bally Sports, AP News reported.

This action follows a failed contract negotiation with Diamond Sports Group, the bankrupt operator of Bally Sports networks, leaving Comcast customers without access to crucial sports programming.

Negotiation Stalemate Leads to Blackout

The blackout, which began at the start of May, stems from the expiration of a temporary agreement between Comcast and Diamond Sports Group. 

Despite efforts to reach a new long-term deal, negotiations faltered, and Comcast pulled the plug on Bally Sports channels.

According to Diamond Sports Group, Comcast's refusal to negotiate constructively was a significant factor in the breakdown. 

The blackout affects fans of a dozen MLB teams, including the Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, and St. Louis Cardinals.
